Did you know that some homes with an Arlington address don’t actually go to Arlington Schools? This is true for other cities in Northern Virginia as well.
Some McLean homes go to Marshall High School (most go to Langley or McLean).
Some Vienna homes go to McLean, Langley or Oakton (most go to Madison or Marshall High School).
Some Falls Church homes go to McLean high school (most go to Stuart, Marshall or Falls Church High School…Falls Church City has their own schools).
For Arlington, there are 3 high schools: Yorktown, Wakefield and Washington & Lee. Primarily, Wakefield serves South Arlington, Yorktown serves North Arlington, and Washington & Lee serves mostly North Arlington but also parts of South Arlington. Here’s a map of the high school lines. But make sure you search the property address to verify schools associated with it – it’s a data field filled out by the listing agent and is sometimes wrong. Don’t assume a school is part of the neighborhood just because of the property address.
- A small part of N Arlington crosses into Fairfax County, so while the postal address is Arlington, the current high school is actually McLean.
- A small part of N Arlington crosses into Falls Church City, so some can actually pick if they’d rather attend George Mason or Yorktown High School
- A small part of S Arlington, specifically Fairlington, crosses into Alexandria City Schools and would attend TC Williams.
