Businessweek.com released their Top 25 Best and Worst Performing Real Estate Markets based on market data from February 2011 through August 2011. While I’m skeptical of the numbers since they give attribution to a Zillow survey (Zillow only has a 45% accuracy rating within 5% of the sales price), it’s undeniable the prescence Northern Virginia has on the list…in fact, of the Top 25 spots, we took 9! Equally as present, Florida took most of the top spots on the Worst Performing chart.
Noticeably absent from the list: Arlington, VA.
The top markets had an improvement of over 8% in sales prices:
#24: Leesburg, VA
#19: Sterling, VA
#13: McLean,VA
#11: Chantilly, VA
#9: Reston, VA
#8: Ashburn, VA
#6: Herndon, VA
#5: Vienna, VA
#4: Burke, VA
