Maybe you’ve seen signs on a Tuesday or read online, but what is a brokers open house? In our area – Arlington/NoVA and DC Metro, Tuesdays are known as Brokers Open house days. This is a chance for agents to go preview homes before they’re officially listed for sale in our MLS. Here’s the breakdown:
- What: An open house just for Realtors (sometimes a very motivated buyer will attend with their agent, but usually never alone)
- When: Mid-day Tuesday, usually the week the house is actually going to go on the market for sale
- Who: The listing agent (seller’s agent) will do a 2-hour open house for other real estate agents from all of the Brokerages
- Where: At the property
- How: Brochures are sent to offices the Monday before the Brokers Open House so agents have time to figure out what they want to go see
I usually see specific houses I have in mind for clients, especially with inventory so low, it’s good to know the options and competition. Also, I’ll go see competing homes for my clients who are selling or thinking of selling soon.
